"The fastest, cleanest, most joyful way to break out of your own box is by dancing. I'm not talking about doing the stand-and-sway. I'm talking about dancing so deep, so hard, so full of the beat that you are nothing but the dance + the beat + the sweat + the heat." G.Roth

A workshop is an invitation to deepen your practice. Workshops are rich, inspiring, often transformative experiences. They provide an opportunity to experience the 5Rhythms in a more in-depth way, using a variety of tools. While movement and dance remain the dominant activity, a workshop usually taps into other modalities as well. These may include: meditation, writing/journalling, witnessing exercises, sharing (talking) exercises, drawing/colouring, other crafts, ritual theatre, and being outside in nature, to name a few! A workshop creates a safe container for participants to become intimate and vulnerable with each other, which lays the groundwork for the richest, most meaningful experiences. Workshops are not for the faint of heart - they are designed for those who have a willingness to peel back layers of themselves, to explore authentic movement in a committed way, to show up exactly how they are and be honest with themselves and the group. A workshop can take many forms - it may be a full weekend, a single day, a 3-4 hour afternoon, or a 5- or 6-week series. Workshops may be fully catered, or self-catered, they can be held at residential retreat centres, or be non-residential. The possibilities for a workshop are endless! If you are interested in hosting a workshop in your area, you can! Feel free to contact me to plan a workshop in your community. I love travelling, and I look forward to hearing from you. Below are some examples of past workshops I have taught, as well as some testimonials from past workshop participants.
Testimonials From Past Workshop Participants: "Just want to say a heartfelt thank you for the gift you facilitated this weekend. It was powerful and a much-needed step in my journey. Years of therapy could not access the depth of a broken aspect of myself, which the dance did. And then, the dance gave me a way to begin healing the brokenness. . May you be blessed as you continue your good work." - Lisa
"This was my first weekend workshop of 5Rhythms. I found Julie’s guidance very clear and grounded. Her love for this work and long experience with it was very inspiring, and was tangibly transmitted throughout the weekend. Her calm presence and ability to hold the space created a safe container to push my comfort zones, let go, drop out of my head, and explore the inner and outer connections through 5Rhythms. Thank You!" -Ronela, Vernon, BC
"I have been to many workshops in my life including one previous 5Rhythms workshop. My experience with Julie Plotkin is one I rate extremely highly, and I am left with a profound cellular memory in my body, mind and heart. She led with clarity, engagement, strength and humility. Julie skillfully and heart-fully orchestrated the themes of connecting with ourselves, with others and with the whole group/tribe. I have deep gratitude for my experience with Julie Plotkin." -Cathryn Rankin
"Thank you for a wonderful workshop. Your leadership and invitation to inquiry guided by your gentle voice and your playlist was memorable. Your teaching skills honed on the dance floor and classrooms really shined as your explanations were clear, brief and to the point, your demonstrations mirroring & modeling your instructions and your invitation to self-inquiry were exemplary. You helped co-create a very safe space where I could dive into my own practice & process while interacting with others and the group as a whole. I look forward to your upcoming workshops." -Musa :)
"As well as attending many of Julie’s weekly 5 RHYTHMS classes, I have had the privilege of attending a number of Julie’s private 5 RHYTHMS workshops over the last few years. They have all been soul moving for me! I learn something new about myself each time I dance in these wonderful sessions. Julie, and the group that I have danced with, are the most nonjudgmental people that I have ever met. I feel nothing but love and support and absolutely no embarrassment or apprehension to just be ME! Julie’s 5 RHYTHMS workshops seems to pull everything together for me! In my opinion, 5 RHYTHMS with Julie is the purest dance of the soul! " - Brenda
