"Riding the Wave" Weekly 5Rhythms® Drop-In Classes
*TUESDAY NIGHT WEEKLY CLASSES ARE ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!*
As we are all trying to navigate this global pandemic of COVID-19, it is important that we keep our bodies moving so we can stay fluid and grounded, while at the time time keeping our bodies stimulated and active. Going for walks outside is still recommended, and we are so fortunate that we live here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast where we can walk in relative solitude on our many beaches, or in the forests. As well, many of us have gardens we can be in, digging our hands in the earth, and maybe even growing some of our own fruit and veggies.
The extra time indoors can be spent in many different ways as well - from increased family time (game nights, reading together, etc.), to possibly starting that meditation practice you've always wanted to do, to dancing in your living room "like no one is watching". There is also now a wide selection of on-line Zoom classes to choose from, ranging from yoga to dance; sound journeys to boot camp.
Here are some mixes on Mixcloud that you can enjoy for a "Move at Home" practice. Try to create a sacred space for yourself to move in, and treat it as if it were an actual class. Set your intention, warm yourself up, and then dive in and enjoy! Here they are:
Move at Home Let the Sunshine
Fuel the Fire Feet in the Beat
Surrender Get Up & Get Down
Find the Funk We are One
Heart to Heart Freedom Wave
I Have a Dream Feel the Music
Home This Is My Church
UPCOMING WORKSHOP - POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Finding Ground is about cultivating a deeper sense of being grounded in our busy lives. Sometimes life can overwhelm us and knock us off balance. Using the map of the 5Rhythms®, we will explore ways we can bring ourselves back to feeling grounded when we recognize we have lost our center. Through this embodied practice, using movement, exercises and the support of the group, we will deepen our roots so that the ground feels steady beneath our feet. All welcome, no experience necessary.
*ON HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE*
I am now offering private therapeutic integrated movement healing sessions at our studio in Roberts Creek. These sessions will be a combination of movement therapy and bodywork, and will be individually tailored to meet each client's needs. Bodywork is based on my training in both Jin Shin Do® Acupressure and Esalen Massage®. I am certified in each of these modalities, and maintained a private bodywork practice for several years, as well as worked in the spa department at the Hollyhock Retreat Centre on Cortes Island. Bodywork sessions are done on a massage table, with an amethyst bio-mat. Movement is done in the studio, with or without music.
Sessions are available until mid-June. I am closed for the summer, and will re-open mid-September.
Sessions last between 1.25 - 1.5 hours. Cost of a session is a sliding scale, $100 - $125.
Please email me directly for more info, or to book a session: firstname.lastname@example.org
"I have had the great pleasure of having private 5 Rhythms sessions with Julie. She is kind, perceptive and supportive. She uses her amazing intuition to guide you in your process. There is no navel-gazing with Julie - just pure somatic, heart-based expression. I would highly recommend working with Julie."

"As well as attending many of Julie’s weekly 5 RHYTHMS classes, I have had the privilege of attending a number of Julie’s private 5 RHYTHMS workshops over the last few years. They have all been soul moving for me! I learn something new about myself each time I dance in these wonderful sessions.
Julie, and the group that I have danced with are the most nonjudgmental people that I have ever met. I feel nothing but love and support and absolutely no embarrassment or apprehension to just be ME! Julie’s 5 RHYTHMS workshops seems to pull everything together for me! In my opinion, 5 RHYTHMS with Julie is the purest dance of the soul! "

"I am incredibly grateful that I pushed through and released more than expected and feel lighter than I have in months. You did this! You created the space where I could grow and release and be myself. Wow! You are an incredibly gifted teacher of the work. You inspire and hold space and don't interfere, when it's not necessary. You are a stellar human being."
"Julie is an intuitive mover and teacher. She comes from a place of honest connection and ability to tap into what is being called for with the group at that time. She provides a safe and comfortable space for all to go as far in or out as they feel. On a personal level, I felt comfortable to be vulnerable and was able experience and witness shifts in myself and others due to Julie's ability to hold the space for that. This 5 Rhythms practice helps to feel more grounded to receive and listen from the inside-out. Thank you so much Julie for all you offer."
"Just want to say a heartfelt thank you for the gift you facilitated this weekend. It was powerful and a much-needed step in my journey. Years of therapy could not access the depth of a broken aspect of myself, which the dance did. And then, the dance gave me a way to begin healing the brokenness. . May you be blessed as you continue your good work."
"This was my first weekend workshop of 5Rhythms. I found Julie’s guidance very clear and grounded. Her love for this work and long experience with it was very inspiring, and was tangibly transmitted throughout the weekend.
Her calm presence and ability to hold the space created a safe container to push my comfort zones, let go, drop out of my head, and explore the inner and outer connections through 5Rhythms. Thank You!"

"I have been to many workshops in my life including one previous 5Rhythms workshop. My experience with Julie Plotkin is one I rate extremely highly, and I am left with a profound cellular memory in my body, mind and heart. She led with clarity, engagement, strength and humility. Julie skillfully and heart-fully orchestrated the themes of connecting with ourselves, with others and with the whole group/tribe. I have deep gratitude for my experience with Julie Plotkin."
"Thank you for a wonderful workshop. Your leadership and invitation to inquiry guided by your gentle voice and your playlist was memorable. Your teaching skills honed on the dance floor and classrooms really shined as your explanations were clear, brief and to the point, your demonstrations mirroring & modeling your instructions and your invitation to self-inquiry were exemplary. You helped co-create a very safe space where I could dive into my own practice & process while interacting with others and the group as a whole. I look forward to your upcoming workshops."
